So, you’ve been watching all of those shows about cakes on TV, but you have no idea where to begin or how to decide on what to have!  What do you do?!

Simple, breathe, collect your thoughts, grab a cup of coffee, and start the hunt!  Now, when we say “start the hunt”, we don’t mean that YOU need to design a cake.  Simply gather some ideas on what you may like!  Where to start you may ask?  Well sometimes the easiest places are the best.

Let’s break down the cakes that you may like to have at your wedding so we can narrow things down a little.  Now I know what you’re thinking, cakes?  More than one?  Yes!  Today many weddings have two cakes (or even more), the cake served at the wedding to all of the guests, and a groom’s cake which can be served with the primary wedding cake or more typically at the rehearsal dinner.  Let’s start with the groom’s cake!

Groom’s cakes are becoming a big trend in the cake and wedding world today.  For many many years the cake has always been about the bride, what does the bride want!  Not anymore, usually done as a surprise for the groom, a groom’s cake is a more manly cake.   Popular cakes are classic cars (or even their personal tricked out ride!), bottles of wine, shirts, hobbies, sports you name it!  Now, how do you decide on what type of groom’s cake you would like to give your fiancé?  The best place to start brainstorming is, think of him!  What does he like?  What are his hobbies, his favorite sports and teams, does he like cars, wine, beer, whatever you think!  Now, make a list, and it’s time to give your baker a call!  Not all bakeries can accommodate this request, but if you give Corsino Cakes a call, the wild and crazy is what they specialize in!

Moving on to the main event, THE cake!  Ladies, this is the time to get your ideas of your perfect cake clearly in your mind.  The cake you have been dreaming about can become a reality, but you must know what you like!  But, if you don’t, the best bakers will help you along!  So, before you sit down to talk about the cake, get a few things together.  Have a few pictures and ideas; know what your favorite flowers are, but stay open minded!  A wedding cake can be anything you can possibly dream up!  REMEMBER!  You never have to stay traditional!  Why not have a TOpSy tURvY cake?  Do you share a hobby with your fiancé?  A wedding cake doesn’t have to be the white on white traditional cake with flowers, get wild! Get crazy!  Do bright bold colors if you want!

Now don’t forget about something equally as important!  The Flavor!  It’s your wedding cake, have a tasting.  If the cake doesn’t taste great, even if it looks good, do you really want a bone dry tasteless and generic wedding cake?  ….. I didn’t think you did either.
